W. 83 Street Explosion
Last Monday, a home on W. 83 Street exploded. Although it was vacant, the lives of many neighborhood were changed by the resulting fires, damage from debris, broken windows and temporary loss of utility services.
The Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization and Ward 15 Councilman Matt Zone are collecting donations to be distributed to the families affected by the explosion. Call DSCDO at (216) 961-4242 to find out what things are needed. Cash donations can be made at any Chase Bank -- just ask to donate to the fund for the victims of the W. 83 Street Explosion.
A Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser to benefit the families will be held this Sunday, February 7, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 6928 Detroit Avenue. A minimum $5.00 Donation for each dinner is requested -- please be more generous if you can!
